Pavia, Ph.D., former chief technology officer (CTO) of Millennium Pharmaceuticals, to its Board of Directors. "Mike’s extensive experience in the development and integration of new technologies into the drug discovery and development process and in-depth knowledge of the life sciences industry, as well as his enthusiastic entrepreneurism make him a great addition to our Board of Directors," said Keith O. "He has an impressive track record in the pharmaceutical industry, and will assist us in growing our relationships with pharmaceutical companies, such as our current partners Pfizer and Berlex. Prior to joining Oxford in 2002, he was CTO at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, where his major focus was improving the productivity and output of the drug discovery and development process through the appropriate integration and use of new technologies. Dr. Pavia has over 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and discovery. He was formerly vice president - Cambridge Research - at Sphinx Pharmaceuticals, a division of Eli Lilly & Co., focusing on the development of combinatorial chemistry technologies. Prior to Sphinx, Dr. Pavia held senior scientific positions in the Department of Chemistry at the Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research Division of Warner-Lambert. He holds a B.S. in chemistry from Lehigh University and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania.
